MISC FAQ’s
When and How do groups find out their squad color? 26 days prior to camp and they’ll get an email from their Camp Support Coordinator (red team)
Do all 18 year olds need to take the Child Protection Training and be background checked? IF they are a camper, just finished 12 grade, we do not require a background check. If they are coming as an adult chaperone, yes, we need a background check. I hope that helps.
2023: Seating charts — yes, there will be seating charts everywhere including Beach & Flex
Bedding – For locations where “multiple bed types” are available, we will let groups know in an email with your housing assignments if you need to bring bedding. Most locations (if they have bed sizes other than Twin) will provide bed linens for any beds larger than a Twin.
2023: When will we receive our free t-shirts? — at check in
2023: No Squad Wars at Beach or Flex Camps. There will be assigned seating at Beach & Flex camps.
What about my bus driver? If your bus driver is not an adult leader/chaperone with your group, you’ll need to arrange lodging for him/her. Student Life does not book rooms for bus drivers (the whole adults need to be background checked thing has a lot to do with this.)

We will not be providing a meal plan for our beach camps this year:
For the past several years we have worked to provide you with meal options at Beach Camp.
Due to increases in costs of food and labor, we’ve determined it would be difficult to offer an acceptable quality and quantity of food at a price point that would be reasonable for you to pay.
We understand this announcement may come as a disappointment. Our goal in providing meals has always been to make your camp experience as easy as possible. However, we never want to make a promise to you that we can provide an affordable, quality option when we continue to get disappointing responses from catering companies on what they are able to provide.
We are working on some information to include ideas and options that may be a fit for your group to make meals at beach camp as easy as possible. For example, the Myrtle Beach Convention Center has concession stands they may open. We hope these ideas and others you dream up make for a better and more affordable week of camp for your students.
We appreciate your partnership and are here to answer any questions you may have.

2023 FAQ for Certificate of Insurance Requirement
Here’s some info from our Risk Management team to help us on phones as we answer questions about the new COI (Certificate of Insurance) requirement.
Email the COI to: CampsCOI@studentlife.com
*If a group has a lot of questions or their insurance company has questions, they can also connect to Michele Manning in Risk Management by using this email.
2023 Forms
Cell Phone # on Participant form
Do you have someone that wants their cell phone # to populate on their participant form? Fill out THIS FORM and it will begin to populate on the participant form for everyone in their group!
*This Google Form works for both SL Youth & Kids camp.
Embedded forms- best for computers (not on phones)
All forms are embedded on our websites this year.
- SLKC Waivers: https://studentlifekidscamp.lifeway.com/forms
- SL Youth Waivers: https://studentlifekidscamp.lifeway.com/forms
- SL Youth Shocco Waiver: https://arsl.at/2ld5avqG
- Church Agreement can be found on Step 2
- Child Protection Training can be found on: https://studentlife.lifeway.com/Protection or https://studentlifekidscamp.lifeway.com/Protection
Need to check and see if we’ve received a form?
Check the Responses sheet or click on the appropriate folder to see if we’ve received the form.
A mistake we’re seeing is group leaders are entering their Reg ID on page 1 and then sharing the URL from their browser to parents. This will NOT work and we will not receive forms due to security built into the system. The Only way the form should be shared is with the links on our website (occasionally the links may have to be updated if a bug is found so always best to share our Forms Web page with parents).
Tax ID # or W-9 & Tax Exemption-updated for 2023
Our Tax ID # is: 62-0505208
This might also be called: Employer Identification Number (EID)
Tax Exempt status:
For camps in Colorado and Virginia, a church will need to obtain a tax exempt status in those states in order for us to remove tax from their registration. Exemption form can be emailed to taxexemption@lifeway.com
Things to know from LW accounting:
We do not provide tax advice or tell a church organization they should apply for exemption.
It’s up to the church to determine if they want or need to apply but it’s up to them to complete the form
The proper documentation needed for exemption can be found on the state’s Department of Revenue or Taxation website…they do not recommend we put a link on our website to the forms b/c it could be more confusing or there might be more than 1 form acceptable.

2022 What is your policy on transgender students at camp?
- Our only strong policy is biological females in female dorms, biological males in male dorms. Same for restrooms.
- We will default to the SP on deciding how they would like to group together students. I’ve seen people plan for that student to be in a room with two adults, the student be in a room alone, and the student be in a room of 2 or more students.
A few things to touch on as we work with these groups
- We can only work with what we are given by the location (those policies may vary)
- We want Trans students to come to camp
- We want to work with the church leader to help them come up with a solution that is good for them, parents, all parties involved
- Having the student’s parent come to camp is a good way to help the rooming issue if the parent is involved
